Jalpari Music Released

Midival Punditz, Piyush Mishra and Shubha Mudgal have all lent their voices to the soundtrack of Nila Madhab Panda’s film Jalpari – The Desert Mermaid. Jalpari is the second directorial venture of Panda, who had earlier made the critically acclaimed I Am Kalam in 2010.

Jalpari revolves around the journey of 10-year-old Shreya through the unseen evils of our culture and society, as the city girl explores rural life for the first time withher brother Sam. The film features Parvin Dabas, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Suhasini Mulay and Harsh Mayar (I Am Kalam) and introducing Lehar Khan and Krishang Trivedi.

The soundtrack of Jalpari has been conceived to go with the mood and nature of the film. Midival Punditz has composed the track Neeli neeli geeli geeli si duniya, sung by Shubha Mudgal and Azam Ali. Although the sound is trademark Punditz with their electronic groove, the music is beautifully rustic and Mudgal’s stunning rendition does the rest. Piyush Mishra has written, composed and sung the song Bargad ke pedo pe and another track, Hath me thari saaje chuda with music and lyrics by Ashish Chauhan and has been sung by Rinku and Kunal Wason. The audio CD and MP3 of the film are available on Ultra Music.

Jalpari will release in Indian theatres on August 31, 2012.
